About the Exhibition:
Sala de Arte was a community studio where art lived, a place to be creative and be inspired, a home away from home. Visitors enjoyed the comforts of home in EPMA’s gallery among family and friends. Contemporary artworks on view that highlighted EPMA’s study collection. Over the summer of 2019, artists-in-residence, the Luminarias de Arte, offered art demos and workshops at no cost to the community, they learned about the art process and how to use art tools. Sala de Arte community space hosted music, visual performances and family programs.
Featured in the C2 Gallery, contemporary installations by Takashi Murakami, Robert Lazzarini, Christian Marclay, Roberto Gutierrez, Patsi Valdez and renowned artist and storyteller, Carmen Lomas Garza. These artists explored different perspectives of home, family, culture, and traditions. With areas dedicated to art, art-making, playful activities, EPMA was the place for all families to make art happen! Encouraging visitors to be curious, discover new ideas and be inspired.
