About the Exhibition
Making art begins with an idea. It is up to the artists to unwrap the idea to create a work of art. Ideas come from many things, from food to a childhood home to family photographs. Some artists are inspired by works of art created long ago. Other artists are inspired by their community culture.
Works of art featured in this exhibition were made by artists inspired by their own experiences, culture, beliefs, and history. Some works were given to the El Paso Museum of Art by the Peter Norton Christmas Project. Since 1988, Mr. Norton commissioned renowned artists to create art with the intent to make art engaging and accessible. Other works of art include pottery by multigenerational artists from Northern Mexico who renewed traditional designs and processes by indigenous people of Northern Mexico.
